With the second event being a super-hit, we got requests to organize singles tournaments across age groups. Targetting a suitable date, just after the schools final exams got over, we scheduled over 150 matches involving 65 participants ranging from 9years to 55years, from our Estate.
Singles are power packed games not meant for the faint hearted. The court coverage and game sense is totally dependant on the individual and movement has to be altered according to external conditions like breeze, court surface etc. Many great players with astounding talent were discovered in addition to the ones we already knew in our previous events. Some players improved their games and others unexpectedly surprised us with new techniques and foot movements.
We thank all our Volunteers!
HBL gave an opportunity to a handful of kids who couldnt participate in the tournaments held but wanted to be a part of the event in some way or the other, by nominating them HBL VOLUNTEERS for the event.
These kids were religiously and punctually present for each session and carried out their duties which involved line marking, score keeping, preparing participants for the next game etc. All these kids have one thing in common, the love for badminton and the yearning to learn more!
